Hey,
So I bought a used copy of Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever from a record store yesterday, except when I put it on, the A-side is a completely different album, however, the b-side is actually Tom Petty. Anyone have any information on this? Tried searching but couldn't find anything.
This happens occasionally. it's a mistake that happens at the pressing plant wherein only one stamper has been changed. it doesn't generally give any particularly higher monetary value to the record. the only exception might be for a record collector who is a completest and is driven to own every variation of every record by a given artist.

I know, it's long ago and you might have found out meanwhile, but I came right now across your posting by accident and thought ..... well, take a sharp look at the inner groove of side one and you will find a stamp of the matrix no. and/or the catalog no. of the "wrong" record. So you can do a research with these numbers and at least eventually find out, to what record side A actually belongs.
